Burns Night:   Rabbie, Tam and Cutty Sark

Saturday, January 24, 2015 * Oahu Country Club * 5:00 pm Put on your best Highland attire and enter the spooky world of  Tam 0' Shanter!

All0way Kirk, S0uth Ayrshire, Sc0tland

Plans   are   underway    for   another    great tribute  to  Scotland's  Bard,  Robert  Burns. The Oahu Country Club will again transform into  a Scottish  castle  with  the Celtic  Pipes and Drums entering from "the moors of Scotland." A theatrical rendering of the epic poem Tam o' Shanter (1791) will be performed, the poetic music of Burns sung, and traditional dances danced by The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.

Burns  Night  is  our  Society's   most traditional   event   at   which   we   toast   the culture we hail from and the bard who embodied that culture in poetry and songs. Many   members  like   to   bring   friends   to Burns Night   to   share   their   culture   and Burns'   poetry,   perhaps    by   reserving    a whole table of eight at member prices.

Even though we try to keep costs down every year, prices continue to rise.  We have had to increase the price by $5 in each category.   The quality of the food & the Club itself, the Committee's creative entertainment  efforts, and of course the camaraderie of all the guests, make this a memorable evening at a very reasonable price.  Reservations are now being taken for Early  Bird Special  prices. See the reservation  form (.pdf).   Note that we are starting the evening with the cocktail hour at 5:00 pm this year.

This truth fand honest Tam o' Shanter,

As he frae Ayr ae night did canter,

(Auld Ayr, wham ne'er a town surpasses

For honest men and bonie lasses.)

She prophesied that late or soon,

Thou would be found deep drown'd in Doon;

Or catch'd wi' warlocks in the mirk,

By Alloway's auld haunted kirk.    -Robert Burns
