Original Annoucement

Saturday, February 10th

Have you ever wanted to take the Ewa train in Hawaii? It’s the only railway on Oahu and dates back to sugar days during the 19th C.  The Society is pleased to announce a fun family-style day on the West side of the Island on Sat., Feb. 10th.  Meet at 9:30 at the Moena Café, 91-5431 Kapolei Pkwy, Ste. 1001, in Kapolei, for a no-host brunch.  Menu prices are from $10 to $20 per person and you can see the menu online at www.moenacafe.com.  Member Brian Richardson will give a short program entitled “Full Steam Ahead: A History of Scottish Technology” at approximately 10:30.

Next, at around 11:15, we’ll travel a short distance to the train station at 91-1001 Renton Rd., Ewa Beach for the train departure time of 12:30 p.m. The round trip from Ewa to Kahe Pt. & back should take about 2 ½ hours.  You have a choice of reserving the standard open car for $11.00 per person ($10 for children 2-12 years old) or a more comfortable parlor car available at $28.00 per person (adults only). The parlor car has limited capacity, so if you want that option, please reserve early.

Reservations are required for the train.  Call Jeannie Ferrier at [not available].  Please also let us know if you will join us for brunch.    You can also come for brunch only, but please call Jeannie so we have a head count for the Café. Checks for the train ride need to be sent by Monday, Feb. 5th to:
